Maureen (McLaughlin) Betts, 68, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on April 25, 2017. Born in Dorchester, MA on August 8, 1948 to Joe and Rita McLaughlin. Maureen grew up in Stoneham, MA, one of six children. She attended Our Lady of Nazareth Academy in Wakefield and Massachusetts Community College. Maureen married Rad Betts in 1969 and moved to New Hampshire in 1973 to start their family, eventually settling in Weare, NH. First and foremost, Maureen cherished being a mother, and balanced this with a career in banking administration.
The first thing people would notice about Maureen was her bright smile. Maureen enjoyed cooking, music, dancing, and online shopping. When she wasn't being a mom-taxi or working, she loved reading and watching her "story," Days of our Lives. She always looked forward to shopping excursions at Jordan Marsh and monthly dinners with her best friends. She treasured road trips to the ocean for a lobster roll and a cup of chowder with Rad and visits with her siblings at the lake. Phone calls from her kids and Facetiming with her grandchildren were a daily delight. Maureen was a strong, smart, caring woman who will be remembered as a great listener with open arms always ready for a hug.
Maureen leaves behind a loving and devoted family. She is survived by her husband, Rad, and her four children, Laura, Becky, David, and Daniel. Son-in-law Chris Rothfuss and daughters-in-law, Emily Betts and Regan Betts. Maureen loved her grandchildren, Alyssa and Cooper Rothfuss, and Ireland and Mazeppa Betts. She is also survived by her sister, Tricia McLaughlin Lane, her brothers, Joe, Peter, and Philip McLaughlin, sisters-in-law, Patty and Diane McLaughlin, and mother-in-law, Thelma Betts, as well as many loved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother and father, Rita and Joe, her brother, Eddie McLaughlin, and her father-in-law, Alfred R. Betts Sr.
Calling hours will be held Friday April 28th from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the French and Rising Funeral Home 17 South Mast Street Goffstown, NH. A funeral service will be held on Saturday April 29th at 10am at French and Rising.
