Janet P. MacDougall, 84, of Goffstown died December 11,2017 at the Elliot Hospital. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years John, her son James, and son-in-law Donald Morrison. She was born on February 14, 1933 in Manchester NH to Frederick and Wilma(Roberts) Leafe. She was raised and educated in Manchester, and married John MacDougall in 1953 prior to moving to Goffstown in 1960.
Mrs. MacDougall was employed for many years in the Goffstown School District, serving as secretary at the Upper Elementary School before moving to the SAU #19 offices. She then joined the Union Leader Corporation serving as a secretary in the executive offices during which time she had the honor of serving Nackey Loeb president and publisher as her secretary. After her retirement in 2005, Janet was a volunteer at the Goffstown Police Department, and a member of the Goffstown Parks and Recreation Commission. Janet was an avid runner and won many Goffstown Gallops in the 50 and over category. She enjoyed time spent at Crown Colony in Rye NH with family during the summer season.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Perkins and husband Kenneth of Dunbarton,NH, Carol Morrison of York Me., William Mac Dougall and his wife Leah of Quantico Va., and daughter -in -law Lisa Mac Dougall of Portsmouth NH. She was a loving grandmother to John and Jeffrey Perkins, Jennifer, Kelley, William, Scott, Zachary, Jeremy, and Matthew Mac Dougall, Sean, Kyle and Ian Morrison. She was further blessed with four great grandchildren Andrew, Logan, Kaya, and Madison. Siblings Donald, Stephen,and Kenneth Leafe, Sandra Duriga, and Jaye Aither, and many nieces and nephews.
Services: Calling Hours will be held on December 14th from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm, a funeral service will be held December 15 at 12 noon at the French and Rising Funeral Home 17 South Mast Street Goffstown, NH. A private committal service will take place at the NH Veteran Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 166 S River Rd #210, Bedford, NH 03110.
