Goffstown NH - Rev. Richard W. Gray, age 72 went home to be with his Lord on March 31, 2018 following a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 25, 1945, and was raised in his beloved Marblehead, Massachusetts, with deep roots in the town's history. Rev. Gray was the son of Elmer T. and Myrtle Harris Gray, and was a graduate of Marblehead High School. Richard obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Gordon College and his Master of Divinity Degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He met the love of his life, April Morse Gray, in church; a great place to meet your future spouse, and they were married for 49 years. He leaves behind three children, Amy Kostecki and her husband, Steven, of Gloucester, MA; Matthew Gray and his wife Dr. Weili Gray, of Barton, VT; and Sarah Mahler and her husband, Harry, of Wrightsville, P A. He also leaves his twin brother, Robert and his wife, Ellen, of Whitman, MA, and his older brother, Thomas, of Marblehead, MA. There are ten grandchildren: Gabriel, Israel, Hadassah, Adonijah, Rivkah Mahler; Leah and Seth Kostecki, Ga-Wan Jedidiah, Ga-Yu Zachariah, and Ga-Ling Priscilla Gray. He had nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rev. Gray served forty-two years in pastoral ministry in the United Methodist Church. He pastored churches in Byfield, MA; Beverly, MA; Dalton, MA; Natick, MA; and St. Paul's in Manchester, NH, retiring from pastoral ministry in 2011. As a youth, he was a member of the Boy Scouts, and received the God and Country award. He enjoyed preaching and teaching; taught preaching at Berkshire Christian College, mentored seminary students and local pastors, wrote on a number of subjects, hosted "Bible Alive," a popular radio program in the Berkshires; and was on local cable TV in Manchester, was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Berkshire County Christian School. He was the Executive Chairman for the John Wesley White Crusade in the Berkshires with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association; served on the Board of Evangelism and the Board of Ordained Ministry in New England Methodism; wrote Bible Studies, Sunday School curriculum, and devotional material. He was an avid reader, stamp collector and dealer, and author.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM at Bethany Covenant Church 1 Covenant Way, Bedford, NH. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM in the church followed by a reception.
