Geraldine "Gerry" E. Sweeney (1925-2018) Bennington, NH - Geraldine Elizabeth (Welch) Sweeney passed peacefully surrounded by family on April 22, 2018 at MCH following a brief illness. She was 93. Gerry was born to George and Carrie (Wilson) Welch on February 27, 1925 in Weare, NH.


She graduated Valedictorian from Weare High School in 1943. In 1946 she married the late Sherman B. Sweeney, Sr. Gerry was employed at NHBB, Peterborough, NH, Hawthorne College, Antrim, NH, Brookstone, Peterborough, NH, Design Works, Wilton, NH and retired from PVA, Wilton, NH in the mid 1990s.

Gerry's large family was the center of her world. Her sweet smile and quiet presence will be missed by them and all who knew her. She was a wonderful and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

Gerry is survived by her seven children Sherman B. Sweeney, Jr. (Shirley) of Antrim, NH, Raymond Sweeney (Dennis) of Bennington, NH, Patricia Alves (Joe) of Pleasanton, CA, William Sweeney of Bennington, NH, Kathleen Sweeney of Hillsboro, NH, Constance Cody (Ralph) of Antrim, NH, Robert Sweeney (Pam) of Francestown, NH, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, George Welch and Fred Cleveland of Weare NH, and the father of her children, Sherman B. Sweeney, Sr.

There will be a private graveside service arranged by French & Rising Funeral Home, Goffstown, NH with a public Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, May 19th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Antrim. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Diabetes Association or the Antrim, NH Rescue Squad.
