June Esther (Akerly) LeBlanc died peacefully on December 6, 2018 after a period of declining health. June was born April 29, 1918 in Leominster, MA. When she was two weeks old, she moved to a chicken farm in Goffstown where she lived with her parents Ruth (Day) and Eulas Akerly, older sister Doris, and younger brother Marvin.

As a child, June attended a one room school house on Gorham Pond Rd and skipped the seventh grade because she would have been the only student in the class. In 1935, she graduated from Goffstown High School when it was in the brick building on Reed St, the same building that she later resided in as The Meetinghouse. After graduating from high school, she attended beautician school in Concord and then worked at Carolyn’s Beauty Shop on Main St in Goffstown. She became the owner operator after working there for about 40 years, selling it as she neared retirement.

Other than wintering in Florida, she lived her entire life within 5 miles of her childhood home. Most of her adult life was spent on New Boston Rd in a house she built with her own hands and which remains in the family today. In her last years, she was a resident of The Meetinghouse and Bel-Air Nursing Home. She loved visiting with her family, taking walks, playing Bingo and card games, completing jigsaw puzzles, and eating dessert (not necessarily in that order). She made lists for everything and kept stashes of chocolate throughout her apartment. She was an avid reader, and because of her previously mentioned penchant for lists, we know she read more than 150 books in the last 4 years of her life after she received the gift of a Kindle. She traveled the world, visiting countries throughout North, Central, and South America, Europe, and Africa. On June 29, 2018, she was the recipient of the Goffstown Boston Post Cane as the oldest resident in town.

June was predeceased by her parents and siblings as well as by her son Marvin LeBlanc. She is survived by her son Arthur LeBlanc and his wife Linda Emerson of Raeford, NC, and her son Melvin LeBlanc and his wife Kitty of Ocala, FL as well as by her six grandchildren: Cathie LeBlanc, of Campton, NH, Michael LeBlanc of Virginia Beach, VA, Mark LeBlanc of Goffstown, NH, Matthew LeBlanc of Virginia Beach, VA, David LeBlanc of Wellesley, MA, and Jason LeBlanc of Epsom, NH. In addition, she leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was especially close to her nieces Judy Ward and Jill Akerly Nault who brought her great company and comfort.

The LeBlanc family would like to extend a special thank you to Cathie, Mark, Jason, Judy, Jill, and Home Health and Hospice Care of Merrimack for their comfort and many visits.

There will be no services.

To celebrate her life, please make a donation in June’s name to Home Health and Hospice Care, 7 Executive Dr., Merrimack NH, 03054, or to a charity of your choice.
